about Malaysia
Malaysia (Malay, English: Malaysia), referred to as Malaysia, is a constitutional monarchy, the capital of Kuala Lumpur, the federal government's administrative center in Putrajaya. The country is divided into 13 states and 3 federal territories, with a total area of 330,000 square kilometers. [1] Malaysia is located in Southeast Asia and is divided into two parts by the South China Sea, namely the southern Malay Peninsula (West Malaysia) and the northern Kalimantan Island (East Malaysia), with a population of 33 million (2023). Among them, 70% were Malays, 22.7% Chinese, 6.6% Indians and 0.7% other races. [68]
At the beginning of the Malay Peninsula, there were ancient countries such as Kalida and Langya Repair. [1] In the early 15th century, the Kingdom of Manchus, centered on Malacca, united most of the Malay Peninsula. [1] Beginning in the 16th century, it was successively occupied by Portugal, the Netherlands, and England. [1] In the early 20th century, it became a British colony. The islands of Sarawak and Sabah were part of Brunei until 1888, when they became British protectorates. [1] During World War II, the Malay Peninsula, Sarawak, and Sabah were occupied by the Japanese. Britain resumed colonial rule after the war. The Union of Malaya declared its independence on 31 August 1957. [1] On 16 September 1963, the United State of Malaya merged with Singapore, Sarawak, and Sabah to form Malaysia (Singapore withdrew on 9 August 1965). [1]
